Open letter from the CEO of Libretrend

Thank you for your interest and support given to the Libretrend brand and products.

For those that don't know me I'm Luís Da Costa, founder and CEO of Libretrend.

I started this journey in 2013, alone, with the original Librebox and the idea of providing the best hardware at the best price that would respect your freedom, right to repair, and love for Gnu/Linux. Between 2013 and 2015 we released 2 desktop computers, the (original) Librebox and the Wildebeest (a mini PC, not the laptop).

In 2018 we tried again, but this time as a team, and succeeded with the new Librebox (the first-ever commercial desktop computer with coreboot - thanks to 3mdeb) and later in 2019 with the Wildebeest, a powerful laptop running the latest and greatest hardware.

In almost 8 years of history, we had our ups and downs, but we stayed authentic to the original idea. I gave 8 years of my life to this company, from every single purchase, to every single criticism and to every single thank you, simply because I loved what I did. From 2017 I had the privilege to form and work a great team that was there always by my side to help me turn Libretrend from a "me" to a "us" company and make it as big as I dreamed it could be.

The wildebeest laptops have been made out of stock, but the Librebox can still be purchased with the same rights and warranty until the last unit is sold, they've also been discounted to 249€ (229€ without HDD and Wireless).

Today, 21 of July of 2020, marks an important day but not in a positive way. Today is the day I personally announce, full of sadness, that we'll stop any device produce and won't have a date to return (if we return). Libretrend as a company will remain in business to respect those that purchased our devices in order to provide the service they deserve and need. As for the future, we will change focus and we'll keep everyone informed when the time is right.

I hope that everyone remains well in those weird time we live in.
