For a long time our technological freedom has been denied by major companies. A step forwared was made by providing computers with Gnu/Linux, but that didn’t solved the issue by it’s roots. The computer was never truly ours.
My mindset, when creating Libretrend, was to disrupt the market trough a Shockwave of freedom. To do so, I had to face the market and my competitors with no fear and draw a path that would change mentalities, behavirous and *build* a new culture.
Librebox was my first project and it was lively presented at the Linux Event in 2014.
Librebox had an innovative design and ability to handle heavy tasks along with lot of storage. The only thing missing was the coreboot BIOS.
Even though, Librebox simply “stole the show” from big companies and received hundreds of compliments from the entire audience.
The community used this machine mostly to run it as a Server and VDI thanks to his capability to have two HDD at the same time.
I only had one idea in mind:
Provide the most free, powerful and secure hardware and software.
Smaller in size and simply wonderful to handle, Wildebeest was a incredible piece of art.
This “beast” was a powerful and small free-software-friendly device.
Wildebeest was able to keep the dream alive of having coreboot running as I desired when launching Librebox one year before. Unfortunately at that time it was not possible, but the promisse stood out, no matter what.
In 2017 a big step was made, the idea became a brand and the brand became a fully functional company.
The idea was not to “eclipse” the old brand but add value to it. We´ve all changed for the better.
The new Librebox is the most beautiful, powerful and secure computer in the market. Why? Due to the hardwork of our team and our partners, we were able to give to the customers what they were looking for all this years: a combination of small, powerful and free out-of-factory desktop.
Librebox is upgradable with a set of controllers and connectors inside the mainboard itself.
All of this works thanks to the secure BIOS running coreboot with a lot of security features.
This model comes with 32Gb of RAM, an i7 CPU up to 3.1GHz Turbo Boost and an upgradable storage up to 6TB.
